Pavers are made of brick, clay or concrete blocks that create a smooth, hard surface for outdoors. For residential use, pavers are used to create patios, outdoor steps, pathways, driveways, and retaining walls. Pavers for commercial are used for medians, and crosswalks. Permeable pavers are widely used in both residential and commercial applications.
Yes! Pavers can be used to create beautiful driveways, walkways, patios, pool decks, retaining walls and much more. You can even choose different colors and textures to help match the pavers to your home.
Pavers are a varied landscape element in terms of shape, but some of the most common ones are standard square and rectangular pavers. Manufacturers such as EP Henry, Techo Bloc, Belgard, and CST offer several paver shapes in which you can use to form your own patterns including, circle kits, octagon kits, and diamond kits.
For square and rectangular pavers we offer, typical sizes include 8” x 8”, 12”x 12”, and 24” x 24”. These are nominal thickness due to the random surface textures of each paver. Contact us about the range of thickness, which applies to the pavers that you are most interested in.
Natural stone adds a random beauty that brick pavers sometimes lack. For a permanent fixture to your landscape project, consider natural stone first.
The advantages of pavers over concrete and asphalt go beyond colors, looks, and shapes. Pavers are produced on specially designed machinery which ensures an exact quality process that produces a higher strength and durability than concrete or asphalt. They have minimum compression strength of 8000 psi and are the ideal product for freeze/thaw environments. With proper installation, this product provides a hard wearing and flexible surface that allow the joints between pavers on any walkway, driveway, or patio to move without cracking. For any repair needs, they can be easily removed.
It may surprise you how affordable an installation for your home or commercial project really is. Some of the factors which affect the final price of an installation are: Product color and style size of the project; Complexity of the design; Base requirements; Accessibility – front yard vs. back yard. Is the installation combined with anything else? e.g. plants, etc.; Location. It’s easy to get an estimate from CKC Landscaping, Inc. Just fill out our contact form.
Mildew grows on all surfaces that are kept cool and moist over an extended period of time. Pavers are more resistant to mildew as the surface retains water less than that of other pavement surfaces. CKC Landscaping offers a paver restoration program that can enhance your paver walkway or patio.
With the proper use of polymeric sand this issue has pretty much faded away with pavers. Polymeric sand started being widely used about 10-12 years ago in our area, and we have seen a huge reduction in organic growth in our patios and walkways.
Yes, you can be rest assured of the replacement of your pavers by keeping extras from when the job was completed. When replacing a paver, scrape out the sand in the joints that surround the paver that needs to be removed. Use two screwdrivers (or a paver puller) to wiggle the paver out. Others can be removed by hand. Insert the new paver, replace the joint sand, and compact the paver into place with a rubber mallet.
It is by no means required that you seal your pavers, however we do recommend it. Think of sealing your pavers like protecting an investment. Sealing your pavers will help prevent against fading and staining and help your pavers truly last a lifetime. Check out CKC Landscaping’s paver restoration program.
