Lighting is an essential detail to get the most use out of your outdoor living space. With professional lighting, you can enjoy your patio for longer hours of the day, ensure visibility at night, and overall improve the presentation of your home, while staying cost and energy efficient.
Why light your patio?
Evenings are prime time for being outdoors, either alone or while entertaining guests. As we move into Autumn and the
days get shorter, it gets darker earlier. Why cut your evening off short? Keeping your outdoor living space well lit helps navigate you and your guests along the space, and helps make it more comfortable at night. Paired with greenery such as trees and flowers, the lights cast enchanting glows on the plants as well as unique shadows that allure the eye. In adding lights, you add a whole new level of aesthetic appeal to your outdoor living space.
LEDs and why we use them
The LED light bulbs used have countless benefits. LEDs are energy and cost efficient, as they use 75% less energy than incandescent or halogen bulbs, and the smaller LED transformers allow more bang for your buck- they are designed to allow for 4 to 5 times more fixtures per run, and offer 40,000 to 50,000 hours average life compared to 2,000 hours for a regular halogen bulb. LEDs are also beneficial to the environment, as they last longer and don’t contain mercury- meaning less harmful waste.
Types of light fixtures
At CKC Landscaping, we offer several types of light and places to install them to put your idea into action.
- Pathway Light: These elevated lights keep your pathways lit without shining into your eyes: the shielded top directs the light at the ground. Available in multiple colors, these are essential for walkways or paths.
- Wall Light: These hidden lights help illuminate the walls of your outdoor sitting space, perfect for sitting walls.
- Bullet Light: These lights most resemble a spotlight and are commonly used to silhouette trees or other plants.
- Well Light: Similar to the Bullet Light, these can brighten larger spaces and can be used for plants. It is usually placed in the ground for a larger field of view.
